Hockey season has officially begun

Last night the Griffins (the high school team my husband coaches) had their first official game of the season.  They won.  Congratulations to the whole team.  I have a love/hate relationship with hockey.  I love it because it makes my husband so happy and he is a good coach (no bias here...smile), I don't like it because it takes him away 2 nights a week for 4 months.  Of course, because I love him I get over it.  If you want to learn more about his team and their season check out his blog here.

Feeling educated

Well the 3-day conference is over and I have accumulated 23.5 more continuing education hours.  This is not only a good thing but a great thing as we (certified sign language interpreters) have to get 80 hours of credits every 4 years to keep our certification.  My 4 year cycle ends Dec 31st and to say that I still do not have all my hours even after this weekend is a sad but honest statement.  During these last 4 years we bought a house and other things happened that contributed to my not getting them before now but I working diligently to get them and in the process am learning about lots of different topics.  Now I just need to rest my brain so that everything that was crammed into it this weekend can be processed, analyzed and mulled over.

On the hockey front my husband's team unfortunately lost again this morning but if you knew my husband you would realize that for him this is a good way to see their weakness and to be able to work on them before the season starts.  One positive that came out of it was that a coach from one of the opposing teams told my husband that he thought the Griffins (the team my husband coaches) were a really good team because they never backed down even when they were losing.  So way to go Griffins for giving it your all and staying in the game!!

Daylight Savings Time

I have to admit that when I saw this 3-day conference fell on the same weekend as daylight savings time I thought to myself "Oh that is poor planning because people will be screwed up with the time change".  Now I am counting it as a blessing as I am so totally wiped out from sitting in workshops, the business meeting and the keynote presentations from 9 am - 9 pm. today. I did drive home tonight so I will have to drive an hour in the morning but I get an extra hour of sleep so I am good.

I posted last night that the hockey team my husband coaches for has a hockey tournament this weekend, well they played two games today and won one and lost one.  I hope they win tomorrow morning but the one loss today means they will not be in the playoff game tomorrow night....bummer.

NaBloPoMo aka National Blog Posting Month

I decided that I would really try hard to post every day in November for NaBloPoMo and I must admit I didn't really give much thought to how often I will be out of town this month.  So here I am at a hotel for a 3-day conference with a picture on my camera that I can't figure out how to get on the hotel's computer.  So after sitting in workshops from 9 this morning to 9:30 tonight with breaks for lunch and dinner I am totally wiped out and going to bed.

My husband coaches high school hockey and his team is playing in the Frederick Cup in Frederick, MD tomorrow and Sunday.  Even though I can't be there to root them on I wish them the best of luck!!

Have a great weekend!
