I believe this is a Black-crowned night heron and this year there have been a couple spotted around town. I took one for Day 14 and on that day I learned about reflections and the importance of not cutting them off. However, I wanted to work on getting a better photo and today being the longest day I lucked out and got this one before sunset. I am happier with this photo.
"The Air Race Classic is the epicenter of women's air racing. Pilots range
in age from 17 to 90 years old. They come from a wide variety of
backgrounds including students, teachers, doctors, airline pilots,
business owners, professionals and air traffic controllers. Race teams,
consisting of at least two women pilots, must fly VFR during daylight
hours only and are given four days to make flybys at each en route
timing point and then land at the terminus. The race route changes each
year, approximately 2,400 statute miles in length. with 8 or 9 timing
points. The race dates for 2017 are June 20th through June 23rd." ~taken from the Air Race Classic website. This race started in Frederick, MD on June 20th which is Day 31. I took this photo yesterday of one of the planes taking off. I just didn't get to post it until tonight. I love that Frederick has so much going on all the time.
