People Pictures - exercise 2

This is the second week in our group project of working through the exercises in People Pictures by Chris Orwig.  This week's assignment did not involve taking any pictures but celebrating, collecting and critiquing photography.

To celebrate photography I went to the our local visual arts center and spent time walking around the two photography exhibits.  They were very different in look and feel and interesting to compare and contrast.

To collect the suggestion was to review several magazines and tear out pictures that spoke to you.  I did this exercise last October for the photography workshop where I met these wonderful woman and I still have them.

To critique there were several quotes written down and we were to read them and then develop our own.  For me "A great photograph stops you in your tracks makes you forget about what you were thinking about a moment before and causes you to want to know more...to learn the story behind the photograph."

That is this week's assignment.  I hope you all have a great week!

Please make sure and stop by the other ladies' blogs to see their interpretation of this week's assignment.

  1. Your post makes me think about whether my images "stop someone in their tracks and makes them want to know more about it." Thanks for sharing Lizzy!

  2. I love the intensity of your quote! It reminds me of the instantaneous, jaw-dropping feeling I feel every time I see a great picture.

  3. I completely agree with your quote. A good photograph almost takes your breath away.
