Black and White Challenge 144/365

I belong to a quilt guild that is having a challenge that you must use a recognizable amount of the 6 fabrics they provided along with other fabrics of your choice.  You can not use the same fabric in two places.  Minimum size is 12 x 12 and the maximum is 36 x 36.  The 6 fabrics were black and white prints and the challenge was black and white with a touch of color.  The challenge will happen this Tuesday and this is the first time I have entered a challenge.  I decided to try to iris folding that you normally do with paper but I experimented with fabric.  My thanks go to my friend Carol, who taught me how to Iris Fold years ago and since I had not done any in the years following she was a wonderful resource when I called her a couple of weeks ago.  You rock girl!

Here is my entry.  Wish me luck.

The iris folding pattern is from this website.  I modified it a little to be easier to work with fabric.

  5. Nope, didn't win. They do the top 3 and I didn't make it. There were a lot of great entries and the one that won first place was a take on a M.C. Escher drawing. It was very cool.

  6. I wish you the best; I think that you don't need luck--you've got a beautiful piece there. It was nice seeing you Sunday at the Sit & Sew--thanks for the comment on my blog.

  7. My gosh, Elizabeth--I LOVE it! I was very curious how you were going to "iris fold" your quilt--it turned out just great. Good job! The colors and fabric choices are so cool. It reminds me of my fat cat, Smokie. :) Carol
