I belong to a quilt guild that is having a challenge that you must use a recognizable amount of the 6 fabrics they provided along with other fabrics of your choice. You can not use the same fabric in two places. Minimum size is 12 x 12 and the maximum is 36 x 36. The 6 fabrics were black and white prints and the challenge was black and white with a touch of color. The challenge will happen this Tuesday and this is the first time I have entered a challenge. I decided to try to iris folding that you normally do with paper but I experimented with fabric. My thanks go to my friend Carol, who taught me how to Iris Fold years ago and since I had not done any in the years following she was a wonderful resource when I called her a couple of weeks ago. You rock girl!
Here is my entry. Wish me luck.
The iris folding pattern is from this
website. I modified it a little to be easier to work with fabric.
you did an awesome job on this
ReplyDeleteI do like this quilt. Very clever use of fabric folding.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
Ellen
Nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the nice comments. I am happy that I decided to finally do a challenge. I learn a lot.
ReplyDeleteSo did you win?
ReplyDeleteKathy
Nope, didn't win. They do the top 3 and I didn't make it. There were a lot of great entries and the one that won first place was a take on a M.C. Escher drawing. It was very cool.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best; I think that you don't need luck--you've got a beautiful piece there. It was nice seeing you Sunday at the Sit & Sew--thanks for the comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, Elizabeth--I LOVE it! I was very curious how you were going to "iris fold" your quilt--it turned out just great. Good job! The colors and fabric choices are so cool. It reminds me of my fat cat, Smokie. :) Carol
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol, I couldn't have done it without our brainstorming session. Thanks again.
