Windows on the world

I have posted here several times my love of Union Station's architecture and the other day I had a few minutes before my train left to take a few pictures.  I really liked the way the windows in the ceiling look like they are looking out on the world.

I also love the design within each window and the separation after every 3 rows of windows.  What do you think?

Stopped by a shoe

I was walking into Union Station tonight to catch my commuter train and this is what greeted me.

It was definitely a eye-catching display that made you stop and check it out.  It is really an ad for Mastercard.  Pretty cool, huh?

Pay phones

As I sat in Union Station waiting for my track to be posted I noticed this bank of pay phones and thought how weird it was to see one pay phone anymore let alone a whole bank.  I didn't like the lighting in the photo so I played around a little in photoshop elements and liked the result.

Of course, I picked Union Station as my "U" word as I love the architecture of the building.  I was not really happy about any of the pictures I took there today but this one was interesting enough to post.

I haven't posted in a week.  I had my camera with me every day but just couldn't get in the mood to shoot or if I did shoot I wasn't happy with anything I took.  One of my favorite places to take photos is Union Station so I headed up there at lunch today to try and get out of my funk.  I took the shot below of one of the staircases.  I am hoping to get back out there again tomorrow.

I arrived at Union Station a little bit early for my train home.  So I took this picture of the clock to the first street exit.   I like the way the clock face looks like it has lines through it.

Union Station Christmas 72/365

If you remember last week I tried to get a picture of the wreaths outside of Union Station but it was a gray, rainy day with extra police all around due to it being the start of the Thanksgiving holiday so I went back today to try and get all 3 wreaths.  I got them all but you lose something in the photo since you have to be back far enough to capture all 3.

The 3 big wreaths were hung outside of Union Station yesterday and I missed it so thank you Mike for letting me know.  Unfortunately, between the rain and all the extra security cars blocking any good shots today I will have to go back on a nicer day and try to get a good shot of all 3 wreaths.  Here is the middle wreath.

Today I am thankful for my faith which gets me through good times and bad.

I love the arches of Union Station so today between meetings I took a walk up to Union Station to get some air and look at the beautiful architecture.
